8.Samurai Stronghold: Kyushu has a long and rich samurai history culminating in the Satsuma rebellion of 1877 when the last of the rebel samurai army was defeated by Meiji imperial forces. Final home of legendary warriors Saigo Takamori and Miyamoto Musashi- today their homes have been preserved in their original state for public viewing and appreciation.
