ROAD AND E-BIKE TOURS ON THE SOUTHERN ISLAND OF JAPAN
ONE DAY E-BIKE TOURS FROM FUKUOKA
MY ROADS MUNAKATA
A 20 minute train ride brings you to Fukutsu City where we’ll begin our tour following the Sea of Japan coastline along secluded roads thru bird sanctuaries, fishing villages and national heritage sites. Enjoy a gourmet sushi lunch on the beach at Sushi Yatai where the catch of the day is prepared fresh in front of you. On the way back, we’ll visit some of the notable shrines in the area including Miyajidake, well known for its Path of light, a seasonal occurence when the setting sun aligns with the Torii gates of the Shrine to cast the steps in a golden glow. 30-40km options. Mostly flat.

To the south of Hakata Bay lies this jewel of Fukuoka. Studded with gorgeous beaches, the area is a mecca for surfing and the number of quiet country roads make it a popular escape for cyclists as well. Funky restaurants and cafes along the coast create an ambience of the tropics together with scenes of traditional Japan. Our ride follows the shore before heading into nearby mountains and some spectacular views. Along the way, we’ll visit a mysterious shrine, enjoy a bbq. lunch on the beach, and tour a soy sauce factory where traditional, all natural brewing methods have been handed down over generations for 125 years. 35-40km with course options available. Some climbing involved.
AMAZING ITOSHIMA!
The origins of Japanese pottery have their roots in Kyushu and these ancient traditions are alive and well deep in the mountains less than an hours drive from Fukuoka City. From the “Little Kyoto” old world charm of Akizuki, we’ll drive up to Koishiwara dam for the start of our ride. E-bikes make light work of the mountain road as it climbs gently along the tumbling river. A grove of “Gyoja Sugi” giant cedars leads into the flagstone streets of Koishiwara where Meiji era showrooms and kilns line the street. Along the way we’ll visit the Koishiwara Museum to learn about the regions history and also have a short guided lesson where you can try your hand on the potters wheel. Distance: 30km with uphill sections.

WHY RIDE WITH US?
"The E-Bike Tour is a fantastic way to discover the charm of Fukuoka beyond the city center. Starting in a scenic seaside town,we rode lightweight e-bikes that made the journey smooth and fun."
-Amanda H. (N Ireland) *****
"I had a wonderful full day of ebike touring with David Fenster's bike tour company in the Fukuma area not far from Fukuoka. We checked out a historic sake factory, temples, farmers market , beaches, monument to turtles, a sushi lunch and more. The tours are small with wonderful bikes on easy to ride paths and roads. I give it five stars out of five."
-Dan C. (Wisconsin) *****
"Great 40 km bike ride along the coast and through farmland countryside, with an excellent sushi meal at the midpoint. My family loved it.”
